Dr. Ghoulem Berrah was a freedom fighter, groundbreaking scientist, microbiologist, virologist, former professor at the University of Yale School of Medicine, member of the New York Academy of Sciences, ambassador at large and tireless promoter of world peace. His passing was noted in the New York Times. The foundation that bears his name is run by his widow, Mrs. Marguerite Berrah, a pharmacist and diplomat, who is dedicating the rest of her life to promoting their mutual love of freedom and interfaith harmony.

The couple married for 40 years stands for interreligious understanding , him being a devout Muslim and her a fervent Roman Catholic.
